SUMMARY READER RESPONSE DRAFT 2
The article "The new Apple Pencil Pro is harder to lose and better to draw with" (Weatherbed, 2024) highlights the key features and improvements of Apple's latest stylus, the Apple Pencil Pro, which was released in 2024. According to Weatherbed (2024), the Apple Pencil Pro introduces a new feature called haptic feedback which provides tactile pulses when users squeeze or double tap the stylus. The squeeze gesture also opens a new palette for quick tool, colour, and line weight switching, while maintaining the advanced capabilities of its predecessor. Additionally, there is the barrel roll feature which is a new gyroscope that lets you rotate the device for precise control over curved pens and brush tools. Furthermore, there is a Find My Device app that helps the users to track the stylus if they accidentally misplaced it, this addresses a common issue with earlier models. However, the Apple Pencil Pro is only compatible with the newest iPad models, leaving users with older devices unable to upgrade their stylus (Weatherbed, 2024).
Apple Pencil Pro is the preferred choice among stylus pens for professional artists because of its high performance and ability to integrate seamlessly with Apple ecosystem.
The sensitivity and precision of Apple Pencil Pro is one of the
significant factors that contributes to the high performance of Apple Pencil
Pro. According to Skinner (2024), the Apple Pencil Pro is perfect for meticulous
sketching, drawing and taking notes due to its improved tip which enables
extremely accurate input. Furthermore, artists can adjust the intensity and
thickness of their strokes by changing the angle and amount of pressure applied
to the Apple Pencil Pro (Adams, 2024). This greatly contributes to the
production of expressive artwork by giving the Apple Pencil Pro a feel more
akin to that of traditional drawing gadgets and enhances the depth of the
artwork (Adams, 2024).
Another noteworthy reason why artist prefer Apple Pencil Pro
is the ability of Apple Pencil Pro to integrate seamlessly with Apple ecosystem.
According to John (2024), users can switch between Apple’s apps and devices
that are compatible with Apple Pencil Pro. This means that it provides a
consistent and responsive experience if you are using Procreate for idea
sketching, Notability for taking notes or Apple’s Notes app for coming up with
ideas (John, 2024). Moreover, there is iCloud which is Apple’s data storage service
that is used for storing data on Apple devices (MacPherson, 2022). This means
that the user can access and edit their work using other Apple devices such as
iPhone, iPad or MacBook (Warwick, Baxter & Bentley, 2024). Hence this
ecosystem integration makes the Apple Pencil Pro an appealing choice for artists,
particularly those who values flexibility and accessibility in their work.
One downside to Apple Pencil Pro is that it is costly as some critics argue that there are other alternatives that are cheaper.
